Message from the Director of Fundación Pro-Mixteca

Accompanying the next steps of the communities and their productive projects in the Mixteca...   

Over the past few months, Fundación Pro-Mixteca (FPM) has focused part of its efforts on identifying productive projects that have demonstrated, over time, the consistency and drive to develop and continue growing—to increase their productivity, expand as businesses, strengthen financially, and improve their commercialization (to increase income), thereby generating living wages to improve the living conditions of their members and families.   

We designed an evaluation and self-assessment framework in three simple steps:   

i. Conducting field visits to get to know better those who drive the projects forward in each community.   

ii. Identifying within each project improvements in human development, sales, and finances, solutions to their technical or technological needs, as well as better coexistence with the community and the surrounding environment.   

iii. Finally, asking project members to conduct a self-assessment by answering the exact same questions evaluated by our Facilitation Team and FPM Leadership.   

So far, the outcome has been very positive and encouraging; both the members of the productive projects and the Facilitation Team, Executive Leadership, and Board of FPM now have clearer guidance on how to best support the upcoming steps for each project and for the communities where they are based.
