OUR STORY
YOUR STORY
In the 90s a group of young volunteers got interested in promoting the integral development of the Mixteca region in the Mexican State of Oaxaca. In order to improve the population well-being, they began to implement activities in the areas of health, education, nutrition, training and community development.
Initially, the volunteers coordinated the visit of doctors, the delivery of food, clothing and school supplies to the inhabitants, and the management and implementation of public welfare works for the population.
In February 2004, the volunteers decided to establish themselves as a Civil Association (non-profit corporation) under the name of Fundación Pro Mixteca. Its purpose is to promote the sustainable development of the communities through a methodology based on the Integrative Human Development Model. The foundation of the model is that the individuals appropriate their own mentality, intentionality and capacity, so that they implement and develop productive projects for the benefit of the individuals, their families and the community and the same time respecting their culture, customs and the environment.
