On March 22, commemorating World Water Day, Fundación Pro Mixteca participated in the guided visit to Oasis Mixteco, where participants learned about soil conservation techniques for water harvesting and planting—methods that are fundamental for the region and its future.
We thank Mujeres en Desarrollo (MUDEM) and the authorities of the municipality of San Andrés Dinicuiti for the invitation to the demonstration plot, where community-based work has been carried out. We also thank the invited experts Jesús León Santos from CEDICAM and Raúl Nieto Ángel from the University of Chapingo, who shared their knowledge for the benefit of the Mixteca communities.
This event led Fundación Pro Mixteca’s promoters to reflect and continue promoting water and soil care through water retention techniques such as ditches, contour lines, drip irrigation, tree planting, and other replicable practices in communities—laying the groundwork for continued collaboration with institutions like MUDEM, CEDICAM, and the University of Chapingo to strengthen technical capacities.
