The harvest of various vegetables was carried out in school gardens in the communities of Cahuayá, Loma Ñuhu-Cua, and at the primary school “Lic. Benito Juárez” in the community of La Junta in Huajuapan de León. The latter belongs to the “Good Neighbor” project, which, in addition to encouraging students to engage in sustainable practices in production to improve their diet, also generates income for rural schools.
Likewise, family gardens in Guadalupe Cuautlepec, San Juan Bautista Suchitepec, Santa Cruz Ñumá, Santa Catarina Yutandú, San Mateo Peñasco, and Miguel Hidalgo Ocotepec have produced carrots, cilantro, radishes, cabbages, Swiss chard, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, beets, alache, and more. These efforts have directly benefited at least 397 beneficiaries, not only through income but also by promoting healthy eating.
